What is a “Moonshot”?

On May 25, 1961 the then American President JFK gave a speech that would become know as the ‘Moon Shot’. In short he asked for the commitment of his congress and people that, by the end of that decade, the USA would send a man to the moon and bring him back safely. At the time this was not even a consideration, in contrary it was deemed impossible.

However Kennedy persisted:

“I believe we possess all the resources and talents necessary. But the facts of the matter are that we have never made the national decisions or marshaled the national resources required for such leadership. We have never specified long-range goals on an urgent time schedule, or managed our resources and our time so as to insure their fulfillment”

Kennedy made a call, a demand for the Moon Shot and the rest, as they say, is history.

At Big Blue Sky we are creating a Moon Shot of our own. Working from the resources and talents we have, creating dialogue and implementing time-lined action to create the best possible future of life and work on the Gold Coast.

Big Blue Sky is not a conference. It is a meeting of the minds, an examination of what is happening around the world, a disruption of thinking and a ‘roll your sleeves up’ to determine our best possible future.

The event will focus around 4 core areas that will be addressed via speakers who are the world’s best in their field, cross industry panels and collaborative workshops between our speakers and you, our audience.
