GOOD NEWS. We are living in a world of Abundance, just you don’t know yet.

Peter Diamandis World of abundance

A few days ago we got inspired by the book “Abundance. The future is better than you think” by Peter Diamandis and Steven Kotler.

“Currently a billion people lack access to safe drinking water, and 2.6 billion lack access to basic sanitation. As a result, half of the world’s hospitalizations are due of people drinking contaminated water.” Children are affected the most. This is very bad news, indeed.

On the other hand, even if there are thousands of people dying every day now, this will only get worse as the population increases exponentially and the scarcity of water becomes even more serious. Getting water access to everyone now and into the future seems impossible.

So here is the good news:

“In communities where childhood death rates exceed one-third, most parents opt to significantly overshoot their desired family size. They will have replacement births, insurance births, lottery births –and the population soars.”

As Bill Gates mentioned in one of his talks “The key thing you can do to reduce population growth is actually improve health. There is a perfect correlation, as you improve health, within half generation, the population growth rate goes down”.

By solving the water problem, we’re also decreasing world hunger, poverty, global disease, slowing population growth and preservation of the biosphere. Other positive social impacts would be that children or mothers wouldn’t have to collect water, and so education levels will rise and women will have time to get work.
