Dr Clarence N.W. Tan was the Asia Pacific Ambassador for Singularity University (SU), a benefit corporation based on NASA’s research campus in Silicon Valley and currently is the Principal of Austanco, a private family equity fund and Dr CT Pty Ltd, that is an ExO partner in this region. He was also the founder of Bond Wireless, an Australian-based award-winning wireless software applications and services company. Prior to that he was an academic and an investment banker. He received the Queensland government’s Entrepreneur-in-Residence Fellowship for 2010 and has been inducted into the Queensland Science and Innovation Champion Hall of Fame in 2014 as a Queenland Innovation Champion. He runs a private equity fund and is an Adjunct Professor at Bond University and Griffith University on the Gold Coast of Australia. Dr. Tan obtained his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (Computers), a Master of Business Administration (Finance), and a Master of Science in Industrial and Systems Engineering all from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, USA. He also holds a PhD in Artificial Intelligence Applications in Finance. Dr. Tan is a Fellow of the Australian Computer Society (FACS) and a Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia (F Fin). He has a number of academic publications including a book, book chapters and peer-reviewed papers in the area of soft computing and mobile applications. In addition Dr Tan holds a number of patents in mobility technology globally. He has been an invited keynote speaker in a number of events including the World Bank in Washington DC, TEDxYouth KL in Malaysia to over 800 delegates, the Awesomemest Fest in Bali, the Global Investment Panel for Singularity University at NASA Ames Research Park, the London Business School Alumni event in Singapore and the World Computer Congress in Brisbane.
