Stevie Awards New York 2012 – Global Female Innovator of the Year (Government not for profit)
Vicki Batten describes herself as a community activist proud of the often disruptive influence she has been in the sector for the past 30 years.
She has been described as having an immense amount of curiosity and stamina and having enough faith in her own abilities and those around her, to make bold decisions and effect change where needed.
Passionate about human rights and determined to change the systems that don’t recognise those rights is what drives Vicki to try something different and not give up until a solution has been found.
Vicki has lead FSG Australia since 2001. At that time it was a relatively small, local disability organisation. It is now one of the largest For Purpose Community organisations in Queensland, offering services from Hervey Bay to Ballina, with over 1000 staff who pledge to be ‘ordinary people creating extraordinary changes’.
